November 20, 2021 — I am scheduled to guide our first ice fishing trip of the season tomorrow.   Check back if your would like to read the fishing report from that trip Sunday evening.

Sunday November 21, 2021 — I guided a family group of 6 people visiting from California.   It was minus 7 degrees when I met up with them to start the trip.   Even though it had been cold for several days, ice thickness was still about six inches in most places (but varied).  My nephew had been out test drilling the ice the day before, so we followed the shoreline around to where we wanted to fish.  At the first spot I drilled 7 holes and 4 of the party started fishing.   Mom caught 2 rainbow trout before the two older teenage boys and I walked off to drill 3 additional sets of holes.   After a while the two girls walked back to their vehicle to warm up.   Mom, Dad, and the two boys each caught or caught close to limits of rainbow trout that ran up to about 14 or 15 inches in length, and kept enough for a meal or two.   All of the fish were caught by fishing Pautzke’s Balls O’ Fire salmon eggs just above the lake bottom.   We were the only people out on the lake during the trip.
